Avaya IP Softphone
WalkerCom, Inc., in partnership with Avaya, is proud to offer softphone technology to our valued clients. The Avaya IP softphone works to keep employees connected with the company and customers. Using this technology, users can make and receive phone calls from their computers. Users can stay connected with one phone number from any location with broadband access. This one number access assures that your employees can be reached while on the road, or working from home, without searching through cell phone, home, and hotel phone numbers to track them down.
There are two different modes that are available with the softphone. The first setting is the voice over IP, or road warrior mode. When operating in road warrior mode, the phone can be used without having a desk phone present. Calls are made and received through the Internet connection, and the user may speak through a headset. This technology could be used with any broadband connection, including traditional local area networks and wireless local area networks. These virtual Avaya telephones allow employees to stay connected at home, a local coffee shop, a hotel room or lobby, or even an airport terminal.
The second type of use for the softphone is the dual connect, or telecommuter mode. In this setting, the user can make and receive calls from their one access phone number, but the call is channeled through a desk phone, which can be landline or digital, or through a cellular phone. The voice is carried through the phone line, but the call control signaling is carried and maintained through the Internet connection, or IP network. Since the voice is transmitted through a phone, the dual connect mode presents a clear sounding telephone call, much like you would expect over a traditional phone line.
